Philosophy Our program is predominantly one of socialization—helping the children learn to be kind to each other and respond to and respect authority figures (teachers) in addition to their parents.  In this atmosphere, through play, group activities and individual attention, we help the children grow in their friendships and skills for grade school preparation.

Program
Our programs are offered on a schedule similar to the Orinda School District, mid-September through mid-June.  We are located on the campus of St. Stephens’s Episcopal Church and are part of their ministry to the community.  Our program includes chapel for three and four year olds once a week and Christian music and stories for all ages.  We say a simple grace with our snack.  We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion or country of origin.  Continuing families, church members and families of teachers have registration priority.

Two year olds attend on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 until 11:30.  The class size is 12-14  children with three teachers.  The morning includes play, songs, art materials and outdoor activities with the loving guidance and interaction of the teachers.

Three & Four year olds attend Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 until 12:00 with and optional lunch on Wednesdays (Oct. – May) until 2:00.  Each of these groups has 16-17 children with two teachers in each class.  The three and four year olds have a structured schedule which includes experiences with art material every day, circle times, snacks, music, stories and indoor and outdoor play.  We offer a variety of themes during the year including holidays, our bodies and feelings, community helpers, dinosaurs, etc.  We work on colors, alphabet, shapes and the value of numbers in an age appropriate manner and through the use of stories, descriptions, songs and games.

Staff We have a qualified and experienced staff of people who are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for the children in our care.

Registration Priority registration begins the end of February for church members and continuing families.  Registration for the community follows on a first received basis. Please call to schedule a visit if you are interested in enrolling for next year.
