Eucharistic Ministers (also known as Chalice Bearers) assist the clergy Minister & in the distribution of Holy Communion during services. Readers lead Readers the scripture readings appointed for the day and, absent a Deacon, lead the Prayers of the People. While many Readers vest and combine their service as a Eucharistic Minister, others elect not to vest and proceed to the lectern from their seats in the pews.
