This week, I’d like to use the Rector’s Corner to invite you to join me in a course that is designed to deepen the roots of your spiritual life.
On Sunday, after the 10AM worship service, we’ll be gathering in the Library for an organizational meeting. Ahead of us is a journey that will bring us to Grace Cathedral and a service with Bishop Austin. Along the way, we’ll examine the history of the Bible, talk about how the church grew from a few disciples to a world-wide movement, explore the Anglican way of worship, and celebrate a few of our favorite saints.
In church-speak short hand, we often call this class “Confirmation,” where we confirm the promises that were made at our baptism. But the class also triples as a “Reaffirmation” course, where we reaffirm the promises we made at our Confirmation; and “Reception” where the Bishop receives someone who has been confirmed within a different Christian tradition and now would like to find their home here in the Episcopal Church.
Whether you are interested in Confirmation, Reaffirmation, or Reception, this course will be an opportunity to explore the foundations of the faith and what that faith means to us, personally.
Right now, we have a number of parishioners, both teenagers and adults who have expressed an interest in the class. We pray that it will be a time of intergenerational learning and fun.
